The Eternal September

I have had access to the internet since about 1998, and I have seen tremendous changes take place, not only in the technology and interaction of the internet but in the culture of the internet and the world at large. The internet started as a packet communications project at DARPA starting in the 1950s. The very first people on the internet were the engineers and computer scientists creating the software and technology For the internet. Furthermore, since most of the computers in the 1950s and 1960s were very large, they were few in number and located in universities and research facilities around the U.S. The old internet was used to connect these computers together and allow researchers to communicate. As the internet grew, technology advanced, the physical size of computers diminished, and eventually more and more universities could afford computers and internet access. Eventually, after the introduction of the IBM 5150 individuals gained the opportunity to access the nascent in...

Hydrogen, Propane, Butane, Natural Gas Conversion

Image
I believe there is a comparison between electric, hydrogen fueled cars and the development of the Graphical User Interface for computers. Electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are, at this point in time, like a computer made by Apple. Well designed and engineered with attention to detail and efficiency but, very expensive. Cars with internal combustion engines are like the IBM PC. They are ubiquitous, at least here in the U.S., inexpensive, many, many clones of varying quality. What we are trying to do with the "hydrogen retrofit" is like installing windows on a PC. There is no need to build a hydrogen gas or liquid hydrogen transportation infrastructure, populated areas already have the materials to produce their own hydrogen. Most populated areas have ready access to electricity and water, so all that is needed is a machine like the one in this youtube video: People would plug this machine into an electrical outlet or "mains", then attach ...

Energy Lecture for the Week: Energy Sources Economics and Politics https://upload.cat/150598b2e4a9d695 (There are several seconds of advertisement before the video.) Things are getting better by the minute: You don't have to wait for the energy industry to change over to hydrogen to run an internal combustion engine on hydrogen. It is possible to generate your own hydrogen gas, compress it and then burn it in an engine, like this: https://youtu.be/REV739pRNcw?list=PLTYlUGKLEk-GZfbXewpyRNn2iJ8RNepBd I was thinking about the Tesla battery powered automobiles, if people carry around a couple of solar panels in their Tesla vehicle and they run out of charge while driving during the daytime, all they have to do is set up the solar panels, wait a couple of hours, let their vehicle charge up again and boom they're off! People can now drive as far into sparsely populated areas as they want. They can be hundreds of miles from the nearest person and as long ...
