Just a Bunch of Bums

While viewing videos regarding the November election for the U.S. representative of Arizona I started to notice a common theme among the supporters of one of those running for representative seat. The argument goes something like "we don't want our state to turn into California" or "look at what liberal policies have done to the state of California". Then people may say "all the problems San Francisco has" or the extreme amount of "poverty", "homeless", and "tents" strewn about the city of San Francisco like so much confetti. I visit San Francisco twice a year and it has it share of problems like any city but, the statement "poverty", homeless", and "tents" everywhere is completely inaccurate.

When I pressed the person to name specific streets, times, and dates when they saw all this "poverty", "homeless", and "tents", they simply avoided the issue. I got the impression that they have probably never been to SF and are either lying and/or parroting what someone else told them. Also, it isn't beyond the pale for candidates to hire web trolls to pretend to be someone they are not and assume knowledge they don't have. In other words some candidates may pay individuals to post on youtube, twitter, facebook, etc and lie.

This isn't an issue of vanity, it is important because many of the people in the Phoenix area don't tend to judge an idea based on merit or accuracy. Rather they judge an idea on their perception of the politics of the person espousing the idea (conservative/liberal) and/or on the perceived success or failure of the person's hometown and homestate. So for example Prop 127, since it is proposed by "a billionaire from CA" and since people here have been taught that CA is full of "poverty", "homeless", "tents" they think, if we follow ideas originating from CA, then we too will end up with "tents", "poverty", "homeless" everywhere.

Well what people may have told you about CA, what you may have read about CA, or what you may have seen about CA is for the most part inaccurate:

Here is a webpage with links to and a map of webcams across SF:

https://www.the-webcam-network.com/California-USA/San-Francisco/2993539.html

I don't see acres of tents, poverty, and homeless, I don't see "a bunch of bums".

Try a little to the south of SF like San Bruno:

https://www.the-webcam-network.com/California-USA/San-Bruno/2993562.html

Get a street level view via google maps, how many tents do you see "bum after bum"?

https://mapstreetview.com/#mhfys_-20x44n_7i.a_5d41

Explore the rest of the city, click on the map, choose many random locations, do you see "a bunch of bums"?

VISIT a city before you start making inaccurate statements.

If you live in Arizona vote Yes on Prop 127
