So one very inexpensive way to build your own atmospheric water generator is to buy a compressor based dehumidifier and then run the water through a series of Britta type filters or one can even distill the water. A dehumidifier with a pump that automatically expels condensed water is most convenient.

This would be ideal for people living off grid or living in a stealth van. The dehumidifier could be set to operate all day and thereby generate clean water.

Another way to obtain potable drinking water would be to use a distiller and distill river water or even coastal water

Since the amount of water that can be extracted from the atmosphere varies, it might be useful to experiment with recycling water. If one is careful in keeping grey water and urine separate from solid waste it maybe possible to use a distiller or a distiller and Britta Type filters to recycle the water. This way the amount of "new" water that must generated by the atmospheric water generator per day is much lower.
