It might seem like the economy is prior to the biosphere but, a biosphere that supports life can exist without human economic activity but, human economic activity CANNOT exist without a biosphere that supports life:
One way to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from traditional combustion engines would be to use carbon scrubbing technology in the exhaust stream:

Some of these carbon scrubbing methods are regenerative meaning that the scrubbing material or mechanism can be made to expel the carbon dioxide. Afterwards, the scrubbing material or mechanism can then be used again as a carbon dioxide scrubber.
Now, in order to not simply shift the carbon dioxide from the exhaust stream into the exhaust stream of the regeneration process. The regeneration process can be carried out in a space reserved for carbon sequestration.
There are several issues that must be addressed such as how large a carbon scrubber would need to be used in a typical automobile? We must calculate or measure the CO2 flow rate in the exhaust of a typical automobile, at different RPMs. Look at the temperature, pressure, density, and volumetric flow rate of CO2.
The carbon scrubbers can be held in a canister similar to that of the catalytic converter in the exhaust stream. In fact we could experiment with packing the housing of a catalytic converter with activated carbon or metal-oxide carbon scrubbers like those on the former space shuttle:

The carbon scrubbers may have to be located sufficiently far enough away from the exhaust manifold so that the high temperatures of the engine don't inadvertently release captured carbon. It may be beneficial to place the carbon scrubber material in a honeycomb or square grid structure so as to increase exhaust flow rates while at the same time removing carbon.

Movie for the Week: Control Factor
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Control_FactorUnlike many other movies with similar plots, this movie depicts many of the elements of organized stalking AS a result of government experimentation in mind control. This is one of the few movies that makes reference to the recording, monitoring, and manipulation of electrical activity in the brain.
The first half of the movie is interesting as the protagonist discovers the sheer scale of the mind control program, though the second half of the movie is a bit overdone. One of my favorite parts of the movie is when he discovers that his own wife is an agent of the mind control system! She reveals herself with a smirk on her face, like it's one big, fat joke!
