Water Distillation

In one of my previous posts I detailed how to construct (a better word is buy) an inexpensive atmospheric water generator:

Near the end of the post I mentioned that people could buy a distiller that could be heated externally, the gravi-stil:

Though it is quite expensive at $365.00

I found a cheaper alternative:

The 10L version (3 gallons) is only $65.69.

Though, the distiller was made to distill liquor it can also be used to distill water.

Now, it may not be necessary to distill water collected from streams or standing water. Rather people can pass the water through a homemade water filter to remove suspended solids and make the water clear:


Then treat the water with Chlorine OR boil the water to eliminate biological contaminants.

If chemical contamination is suspected, then people may pass the water through the homemade filter and then distill the water and then pass it through another clean homemade water filter.
